Yummy Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Neiman-Marcus Cookies

2 cups of butter
2 cups of sugar
2 cups of brown sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp of vanilla
4 cups of flour
2 ts of soda
1 tsp of salt
2 tsp of baking powder
5 cups of blended oats
1 grated bar of 1/2 pound Hershey bar
1 bag of chocolate chips
chopped nuts (if you want)

Cream the butter and sugars. Add all the wet stuff well. Blend the oats a container with a hand mixer or lightly in a mixer until they are broken and powdery but not like flour. Add everything and mix well. Bake on 375 for about ten minutes, or until they are lightly brown and puffy. The recipe says 'makes 112.'
Maybe cranberries would taste good in these too? I haven't tried yet.

So there were 78 this morning. There were several less when I left for town, one went to me in the car, two went to dad wrapped in a paper towel (but I hope the sub-contractor didn't find them on the mantle first,) one to my uncle I met in the wal-mart parking lot, a plateful went to a family of friends, and now just a little bag-full is left!

  1. I think the people who make recipes must like small cookies, because when I make them regular sized, I always end up with way less than what the recipe estimates. I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but the rest of my family is - I ought to make them some chocolate chip cookies soon. :-) I like the thought of trying it with cranberries. You like cranberries? How about cornmeal? I have a curiously different cranberry cornmeal cookie recipe that I might send you, if you think you'll like it. It's an interesting contrast in flavor and textures, quite different from the traditional cookie. I like it, but I have odd tastes sometimes. :)

I can just imagine the smiles that resulted from your batch of cookies that were distributed hither and yon. The sweetness of the cookies disappears before too long but the memories of your own will stick with those people always, I'm sure.

  2. Heather, I do like cranberries. but I'm not a fan of cornmeal. The idea sounds so unique, I might try it if you send the recipe, though. :D
