Jesus describes his Father

It has taken me a long while to finish a study on how Jesus described his Father. I found every time Jesus said something about Him, and recorded it. Some of the references were a bit difficult for me to figure out, especially in John, but I want to share with you this list.
Learning about the Father teaches us, also, about the Son. What is Jesus trying to tell us about heavenly relationship?

Domestic Newsflash- Amity struggles with her faith

Many things have happened to me recently, including being accepted as a good reader by my little friend Charis, as you see above, and being rejected as an actress by the Playhouse Christmas carol production. I haven’t written an interesting domestic newsflash in a long time. That’s because I cannot catch stylish writing from creative winds long enough to harness it into words very often, neither can I pull the inspirational rabbit dependably from a black silk hat.

Modern dictionaries define ‘faith’ as devotion to a person or idea without demanding proof.
Amity has faith in the humorous idea that God will always favor her with parking spaces closest to the wal-mart door. She hasn’t given up since the idea accidentally formed a few years ago when we saw a popular tv evangelist try to convince the camera that God was full of favors. This afternoon came a crisis in Amity’s faith.
She and I were appointed to do some major grocery shopping. We stocked up on everything today, including popcorn bags since Dad blessed our kitchen with a microwave (those who know us realize that this is a big deal!)
We rolled through the parking lot, looking for Amity’s favor, but it was wasn’t there. Other people took the front, ‘favored’ spaces right as we approached. Amity scanned the cars. She gave up.
‘Cursed,’ she decided, turning into a inferior space. ‘is the opposite of ‘favor.’
Just then a car backed out in front of us leaving an empty park in front, and Amity pulled in confessing she had almost given up on her faith.

It is a matter of faith to believe that God works things together for the good of those He loves and who love Him. Though I do not make the character cast in a play, or run into the hanging gossamer home of a fat spider, or fumble over the fast notes of Clair de Lune, or sigh over my dying herb plant, I do know it all works together in the Father's goodness and love, so I may even take joy in them.

A few poetical lines...

A heart in a prayer-ful posture
Is always before the Lord.

A mind that considers Jesus
Is never spiritually bored.

A will to love the Savior
Cannot be bound to self.

A mouth that speaks in love
Receives and spreads good health.

Money-Saver Laundry Detergent

I got this laundry detergent recipe from a friend who got it from a friend.

It takes:
½ bar of grated Naphta Fels soap (at wal-mart for about $1)
1 quart of water
1/3 cup of borax
1/3  cup of Arm and Hammer washing soda (at wal-mart for about $4)
2 gallons of water

Melt the grated soap in the quart of water, stirring well.
Add everything else, stirring well.
Let it sit for 24 hours.
Use a ¼ cup for every washing load.
It works even in HE washers because it does not lather or suds badly.

So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord, and worship thou him. The king’s daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
Psalm 45:11 &  Psalm 45:13

The King desires the spiritual beauty of His daughters. She is wealthy within; she arrays herself in woven patterns of finery.
Sisters in the Lord, we are breathtakingly beautiful when we worship our Maker. His desire is greatly toward us.

Domestic Newsflash

The other morning, I joined Candle, cup-of-coffee-in-hand, on the front porch to watch Levi outwit a unicycle.
Saturday I laughed with a friend over a spindly tomato plant in an undersized pot, bowed with the weight of two green tomatoes it has just now produced.
While you were in church, I was giving my mamaw a medicine shot, and enjoying the rare moment of beating my papaw at Chinese checkers.
Yesterday, I sat on Barnes & Nobles carpet looking through interior design books and sharing Candle’s marble mocha. Every once in a while, she read me a line from her thriller, and I showed her a bohemian lamp or rug.

There is so much to learn about life, and people and places and things and decorating. It seems impossible that we were all once babies without comprehension. Look at us now- how we have grown and learned!

I get overwhelmed when I think of all there is to learn about God and where He lives and works, what He thinks and makes, how He loves and creates, when He moves and reveals, etc. etc. etc.
I have small comprehension of these things, like a child. But Jesus is a teacher, and He gives sufficient grace for all that I need.
Wonder is packed small enough to fit into a single day.
